Chocolate cake, with its fluffy texture and the unique, irresistible taste of chocolate, is a classic dessert that everyone loves. Here is our version with couscous:Couscous and chocolate cake. The recipe is from our Le Mille e una Bontà di Franci food blogger at Giallo Zafferano!
INGREDIENTS FOR A 22 CM MOULD:
- 300 g of couscous Martino
- 100 g of 00 flour
- 300 ml of milk
- 100 g of sugar
- 1 lemon peel
- 100 g dark chocolate
- 4 eggs
- 50 g butter
TO DECORATE:
- 50 g dark chocolate
- Granulated pistachios to taste
PREPARATION:
Pour the milk into a small saucepan and add the grated lemon zest and butter. Bring the milk to a boil and melt the butter, then turn off the heat and set aside. Pour the couscous into a bowl and add the hot milk to rehydrate it.
Leave it to stand for 5 minutes. After this time, fluff up the couscous with a fork and add the sugar, egg yolks and dark chocolate.
Stir with a wooden spoon, then add the flour and mix well. Finally, add the egg whites, beat until stiff, and stir gently from the bottom upwards so as not to disassemble them.
Pour the mixture into a greased and lined 22 cm diameter mould. Bake in a static oven preheated to 180°C for 40 minutes.
After this time, check the cooking and take the cake out of the oven. Let it cool down and proceed with the decoration.
Melt the dark chocolate in the microwave or in a bain-marie and pour it over the surface of the cake. Finish with some chopped pistachios and serve the couscous and chocolate cake.
