Why are mini glasses of couscous with cocoa for Halloween good for you?

Properties of cocoa

Cocoa contains proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, various minerals, and B vitamins. It also contains serotonin, tyramine, caffeine, theobromine, and phenylethylamine.

Cocoa antioxidants help fight the action of free radicals, while theobromine and caffeine help maintain concentration. Serotonin and tyramine are useful against depression and anxiety disorders.

To fully benefit from the properties of cocoa, it is necessary to consume it bitter, as an ingredient in various recipes, or as good quality dark chocolate.

Cocoa is very energizing, so it is better not to use it very often. Its characteristics make it a food that is particularly recommended for athletes and teenagers. However, it should not be offered to children from zero to three years of age due to the risk of allergies; and for the same reason, it is not recommended for breastfeeding women.

The caffeine present in cocoa could increase nervousness and insomnia in predisposed people. Cupuaçu, on the other hand, a close relative of cocoa, contains theacrine but not caffeine and theobromine.

Chocolate and cocoa are contraindicated in those suffering from hiatal hernia.

Chocolate properties

Many studies show that chocolate intake stimulates the release of endorphins, which can increase good mood. A 2003 study sponsored by the National Research Institute for Food and Nutrition (Inran) in Rome claims that chocolate is good for our heart.

The results revealed that consuming dark chocolate increases the concentrations of antioxidants in the blood by 20%, while milk chocolate does not affect our body.
