The veggie burger is a unique dish made from pulses and vegetables that has a very rich flavour and is a great substitute for a meat burger. With veggie burgers, you can be creative and indulge yourself by choosing your favourite seasoning and combination of flavours. Our Francesca Lucisano, foodblogger at Giallo Zafferano has prepared them with our red lentil couscous!
Ingredients for 4 people
- 200 g of lentil couscous;
- 300 ml water;
- 50 g grated Parmesan cheese;
- 1 egg;
- Breadcrumbs to taste
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to test
Procedure
Pour the lentil couscous into a bowl and rehydrate it with water. Let it rest for 10 minutes and, after this time, shell the cous cous with a fork. Add the salt, pepper and Parmesan cheese and mix well. At this point, add the egg and breadcrumbs until the mixture is firm and homogeneous.
Pour the mixture onto a sheet of greaseproof paper and flatten it to a thickness of about 2 centimetres. Cut out the burgers using a pastry cutter and, in the meantime, heat the grill very well. As soon as the grill is hot, cook the burgers for about 5 minutes on each side. The lentil couscous burgers are now ready to be served.
